When arborist Tommy and his fiancée Sarah started planning their wedding, it wasn’t long before their shared love of trees drew them to the perfect Portland wedding venue. Their Leach Botanical Gardens wedding was cozy and fun. Their colorful vintage details created a sunny ambiance that suited Tommy and Sarah’s love. Check out their digital and film wedding photos!
Leach Botanical Gardens is a cool restorative urban greenspace. It has a rich history and is deeply treasured by the Portland community. A Leach Botanical Gardens wedding is a great way to incorporate the area’s natural beauty in the convenience of the city.
When we started chatting about wedding photography, Sarah and Tommy told me they wanted their Leach Botanical Gardens wedding to be “a cozy, casual, minimalist, natural, welcoming and cool wedding day with good food, killer bar, amazing tunes.” They definitely achieved that at this venue. The historic Manor House sits in the middle of a garden with a creek running nearby. The old growth trees offer shade and a touch of woodland whimsy.
Getting married at Leach Botanical Gardens has its pros and cons. For example, if you’re looking for a venue that provides catering, this isn’t it. In my experience, though, you may end up with a meal you love even more if you’re allowed to bring in an outside caterer. The rental fee for a ceremony and reception for up to 80 guests is $7,400. That puts it right around the middle of Portland wedding venues in terms of rental costs.
Sarah and Tommy’s Leach Botanical Gardens wedding featured incredible design. Warm yellow tones carried throughout their decor. Along with creams and pops of blue, they created sweet and simple retro vibes. The florals had an untamed feeling that fit so well in Leach Botanical Gardens.
All of this thoughtfulness went towards creating a great experience for the people who came together to celebrate Sarah and Tommy. They welcomed everyone from family to childhood friends. Before the wedding, Sarah told me that they couldn’t wait to “feel love and support from the family and friends that were there.” You can see those feelings shine through in these nostalgic images.
This Leach Botanical Gardens wedding made the most of each space at the venue. Before the ceremony, Sarah and Tommy had the first look in front of the historic stone house. The ceremony took place on the East Terrace under an arbor decorated with lush florals. After the ceremony, guests transitioned into the manor house for cocktail hour and then headed back to the terrace for dinner and dancing.
