I’m so excited to share these 35mm film engagement photos taken in a studio in NW Portland. Vania and Warren wanted engagement photos that felt editorial, timeless and minimal. I knew immediately that I wanted to rent Daylight Creative Space in NW Portland, for their shoot. We wanted Vania’s beautiful sari to be the main source of color in the photos so a bright white, clean studio space was the perfect option.
We arrived at the studio at noon, it was a cloudy portland afternoon. However, the studio has giant windows that let in the most amazing light, even on a typical overcast day in Portland. I always feel instantly inspired in a blank space like Daylight Creative Space. The possibilities are endless and the photos are so chic and modern.
To give the photos that editorial edge, I shot most of this session on 35mm film. I truly love the mix of digital and 35mm film for an engagement session or wedding. Analog film adds a timeless, nostalgic touch to your gallery that cannot be replicated with a digital camera. In other words, if your photographer offers it, add the film to you wedding package or engagement shoot, you wont regret it!
Also, a quick shout out to my favorite analog film lab and local shop, Blue Moon Camera. They play such a roll in keeping the film community in Portland thriving!
