New Yorkers Dan and Amanda love city living, but they knew they wanted something different for their wedding. An oceanside wedding felt right. They brought all their friends and family to Amanda’s hometown for a wedding at The Bohlin Newport. This unique celebration was full of deeply moving contributions from family and rockstar moments for Dan and Amanda.
The Bohlin Newport is a beautiful Rhode Island wedding venue. It’s located right on the marina in Newport, so you’re surrounded by docked sailboats and yachts. Having your ceremony right on the dock means your guests get to soak up the salty breezes and majestic boats while you exchange vows. Amanda and Dan added some white roses and greenery to the arch and otherwise let the setting speak for itself.
The Bohlin Newport can accommodate large weddings with up to 250 guests for a seated dinner in the permanent tent. During peak season, the site fee starts at $2,500 with additional costs ranging between $89 and $109 per guest.
Amanda and Dan’s wedding at The Bohlin Newport was unforgettable for plenty of reasons, but the biggest was that music was such a huge part of the night. Both Dan and Amanda are talented musicians. Dan played bass with his band, and Amanda sang throughout the night. Not a lot of people get to look like actual rock stars in their wedding photos, but these two managed it.
Not only are Dan and Amanda musicians, but many of their friends and family members are as well. Dan kicked off the ceremony by surprising Amanda with a song on his late mother’s ukulele. Then Dan’s brother played keyboard for the ceremony music and sang “Because” by The Beatles along with their cousin. That song is really special to Dan and Amanda. Dan even had their favorite lyric embroidered on the inside of his suit jacket.
At the reception, The Bohlin Newport turned into a concert venue with Dan’s band playing the whole night. Amanda and her father sang some songs. Dan’s cousin sang another Beatles classic for their first dance. Then Amanda’s father somehow sang for her and danced the father-daughter dance.
Even if Dan and Amanda’s wedding hadn’t been a non-stop concert from start to finish, it would have been special. Their love for each other shined through in every glance and touch. Their community showed up with poems, kind words, and lots of hugs. The whole day had that sense of connection that everyone hopes for at their wedding.
