Kingston House Wedding

June 12, 2022

Danielle & Evan planned a spring wedding at the Kingston House in Kingston Washington with their closes friends and family. When I first arrived to their wedding it was a typical spring morning in the PNW, the air was crisp and cool and the sky overcast. But as luck has it, the sky cleared and sun came out just in time for their first look.

Danielle got ready for the wedding with her closest friends in the main bedroom of Kingston House while Evan got ready in loft overlooking the living space. They met on the back porch and read vows in private, just the two of them. It’s always such a privilege to be present and documenting moments like this. The rest of the day unraveled perfectly. We took photos around the gorgeous mid-century wedding venue, guests trickled in for cocktail hour and then headed to the ceremony under a giant tree on the property. The rest of the night was pure celebration!

About the Kingston House Wedding Venue

Located in Kitsap county, the Kingston House is nestled in 27 acres of rolling hills, gorgeous cedar trees and a lavender farm. The home was designed in 1962 by architect Anker I. Molver as the private residence of Louise and Merlin Knapp. The house features mid-century design influenced by Molver’s roots in Norway & Japan. The interior is still breath taking to this day. If you’re a fan of mid-century you will LOVE this venue. The wood paneling, the sunken living room boasting a stone fire place, it’s a dream. One of my favorite things about the Kingston House is the quick ferry ride from Seattle or Edmond. But once you arrive on the property, it feels like your own private slice of nature. In short, consider the Kingston House if you’re looking for a Kitsap County wedding venue!

Here is what Danielle and Evan had to say about their Wedding:

Why did you choose to have your wedding at the Kingston House?

We just knew 🙂 the minute we stepped foot at the Kingston House, it just felt right and it just felt us. We didn’t really know what we wanted when we first thought about looking. It was the first and only place we looked at. We had no interest in seeing other properties, and that in itself told us it was the right choice. Matt the owner was also a huge part in making the tour and property special. He went above and a beyond to make us feel at home. What drew us into the property was the sense of calmness about it. It felt tucked away in a perfect little world, yet close to home. The uniqueness of the house is also what drew us in, from all the shapes of the doorways, the dried lavender hanging in the hallway, all the perfectly placed windows catching all the light.

What is your favorite memory or moment from your wedding day that you want to keep close forever?

Evan: Are you kidding me?! If I had to pick one it would be the moments leading up to when the dance floor really took off, the energy of the room really made an impact, and I had so much fun and just letting loose with everyone I love.

Danielle: Being able to have all my friends and our families together is a huge thing for me. I know it will never happen again, and for our worlds to connect even just a little meant the world to me. Another being just that I felt so loved by literally everyone.

If you could pick a song to match the feels of your wedding day what would it be?

Very First Time – Alexander Fairchild (feeeeeeeeeeeels)

What is one piece of advice you would give to future couples planning their wedding?

Give yourselves time and be patient with yourself and partner. Communicate and touch base often with each other, let go of things when they don’t work out, and don’t stress the small stuff, keep it simple.

What do you love most about your wedding photos?

Evan: With every photo I am immediately transported to that moment. Fully immersed in the energy captured so perfectly; to reminisce and even feel the moments I missed on that special day.

Danielle: As one example, just minutes after our ceremony when I could no longer wear my shoes because my feet were in so much pain, I needed to take them off, and I thought you would wait or reassess, then you started taking photos and i forgot all about my feet hurting and then we ran up the hill and it made for some of my favorite moments just after marrying Evan, just the two of us. You really see all the silly little moments that are special between couples, and that’s my favorite about all the rest of them too. You really see what is important and beautiful.
