Han Oak: A Unique Wedding Venue in Portland

January 28, 2025

What do you do when you’re planning your wedding and your ideal date is dinner at a cool restaurant followed by drinks at a dive bar? You find a unique wedding venue that gives you the best of both! For Adam and Erin’s Portland wedding, that meant a reception at Han Oak. The combination of thoughtful details and amazing food and music made for an unforgettable night with their closest people.

A Unique Wedding Venue in Portland

After a private wedding ceremony, Erin and Adam hosted fifty of their favorite people at Han Oak . This well-loved restaurant is a Portland stable. Their whole vibe is unfussy, laidback, and fun. The cool atmosphere at Han Oak really set the stage for a one-of-a-kind wedding reception.

Han Oak is such a special space. When you enter, you feel transported. It’s like you’re eating Korean BBQ and partying in an urban garden. The vine-covered walls make the space feel even more lush and wild. And, of course, the food is amazing.

Intentional Details

Such a unique wedding venue made sense for thoughtful people like Erin and Adam. Their favors show just how intentional they were about their whole wedding day. Erin and Adam created a mixed tape that they gifted to each of their guests. Then they played the songs throughout the evening.

Even their minimalist florals worked for the relaxed, celebratory atmosphere Erin and Adam wanted to create. They just had a corsage, a boutonniere, and a centerpiece. The splashes of color worked well with the natural tones at Han Oak and felt whimsical.

Erin and Adam’s Karaoke Reception

A unique wedding venue like Han Oak worked for Erin and Adam because they’re so creative themselves. They’re both designers in Portland, but their creativity isn’t confined to their formal work. They love interior design, DIY home projects, cooking elaborate meals, and even making music. Each of their wedding details reflect their sense of creativity and intentionality.

Erin and Adam are clearly so at home with each other that they make others around them feel comfortable too. They described their love to me as “tender and seasoned.” Erin went on to say that they’ve grown so much together in the eleven years they’ve been together. “It sounds cheesy,” she said, “but together feels like home.”

Before their wedding day, Erin and Adam told me that they loved the nostalgic feeling and creativity of the film photography in my portfolio. They said they wanted the essence of their reception captured. I’d say we achieved that with these wedding photos. When you look through them, you can see all the joy and emotion in everyone’s faces. The karaoke photos are especially fun.
